2007 Conference Update

2007 SCIPIE Conference will be hosted by Arizona State University, and will be held in November 1-3, 2007,
at the West campus of the Arizona State University. The second SCIPIE conference will bring together
researchers to examine diverse responses to the question: "What makes teaching and learning about science
difficult?" The achievement, cultural, and affective barriers that many students face make the teaching

Attendance and submission for the conference is restricted to SCIPIE members. Anyone can become an

Election Results

The results of most recent elections have been tallied. Congratulations to Lisa Bendixen (University of Nevada,
Las Vegas) on her election to the position of President. Lisa is currently serving as President-Elect, and will assume
the role of President at the next SCIPIE conference, to be held in 2007.
Congratulations, too, to Christopher Wolters (University of Houston) who was elected to the position of
Member-at-Large.
