The Southwest Consortium for Innovative Psychology in Education (SCIPIE) was established to capitalize on the intellectual vibrancy of the Southwest to develop a center for innovation in the psychological study of learning. The intent was to bring together the knowledge, skills, and resources of the founding universities, and to use this leverage to advance the study of learning nationally and internationally.
At the core of SCIPIE are the biennial conferences that allow for extended conversations about innovative research projects at the intersection of these two areas. SCIPIE conferences emphasize research currently in progress, or sticky problems that researchers face in these areas. The conferences also provide graduate students with opportunities for legitimate peripheral participation in authentic conversations about difficult, cutting-edge research problems.
We hope to see you at the next SCIPIE conference at the University of Oklahoma in November 2011.
